Video utility

Inspect Video Metadata Online

Read browser-exposed file and decoded-frame metadata from a local video without uploading it.

Browser-decodable local video up to 250 MB · inspection only · no upload

Local video up to 250 MB. Playback and codec support depend on your browser and operating system.

This tool reports only metadata the browser exposes while decoding the selected file. It does not deeply parse the container or invent codec, bitrate, frame-rate, creation-date or hidden-tag claims when those values are not exposed.

What this inspector can and cannot see

The browser opens the local file, exposes duration and decoded frame dimensions when it can, and this page combines those values with safe file properties such as name, MIME type and size. Container-level tags and codec details are intentionally not guessed.

Frequently asked questions

Is my video uploaded?

No. The current inspector uses a local object URL in this browser tab. There is no media upload or storage path.

Why does the inspector not show codec or bitrate?

Standard browser media elements do not consistently expose those container-level details across browsers. This tool reports unknown rather than pretending to know values it cannot verify.
